VOX POPULI

Our "LETTERS" Page

Pull up a chair and have one of your favorite beverages.

You new around here? Got some swamp boogie in you? How about some rock 'n' roll?

We get compliments on our jukebox all the time. It's all been a pack of lies!

Kudos, brickbats, spam, you'll find it all right here. Who knew so many people could even find this Web magazine. Klaus? Oh, just ignore him. He's living in two dimensions at the same time.

Relax, okay?

This is where our readers and writers get to talk to each other.

Enjoy!

SINCE YOU PUT IT THAT WAY...

From Tim L, (No City Provided,) WA, USA:

Greetings!

I just read the bios of your team. Very impressive and eclectic bunch of fine folk with great diversity. All this makes for excellent reading and background. I plan to send Rod an e-mail with some query ideas as I have international background and know how to type. Again, great site, very exciting to see & read intelligent material of value.

Namaste,
Tim

From Ana Jumari, SINGAPORE:

Heya Rod, Ý

I just accessed the voxpop page. Would u pls tell my fan that I courtsied?

From Ed C., Bloomfield, MI, USA:

SUBJECT: Turn around, Miles!

Dear Rod:
THAT FUCKING CHEERED ME UP! (sorry about the yelling). Ya know, I can't help but feel I've had a good influence on you, probbing your scabs a little (while telling you softly "don't worry, Uncle Eddy just wants to see ya heal up right". You're listening to music, enjoying a visceral moment (I think my best one this year was when I was drinking with the two homeless guys about a month ago, made their DAY), going out into the meat world with some relatives, checked out some female flesh at damn near firing range - I'm pumped for ya! Keep on keeping on man, you've heard this one, right? "God helps those, who help themselves" or maybe you'd prefer the Greek version, "God feeds even the birds, but he doesn't throw food in their nests."

Love,
ED

Binji's article made me hungry.....that sounds like some good down home grub.

I did wonder about his assertion that chick peas are indigneous to Africa ..... from personal experience I submit that all but the southern or mountainous areas of Africa are cool enough to grow chi-chi's. You plant them in the spring, almost as soon as the dirt is thawed, and like all peas (botanically, they are peas not beans), the plants are spent by the time the days get consistently into the 80's. In Sicily, the poor people will gather the wild chick peas that grow in the volcanic ash at the base of places like Mount Aetna, where my gramps was from. It is my understanding that there were three major peas in Europe (chick, green and horse/fava beans --- also a pea); the "true" beans (pinto, kidney, navy, black) came from the Americas and the African continent had the more pea-bean varieties (mung, adzuki, lentil). Then again, the Africain continent and Lower Europe are only seperated by what, 7 miles at the neck of the Mediterrainian - so what the hell do I know, maybe the chi-chi's are from the cool mountain areas of Africa after all. I like the "Food Slut"'s writing.

From Terry T., Cloverdale, CA, USA:

Hi VB

It seems to me that Amsterdam would be the primo place to live. It is a real civilized town. Don't need a car, lots going on. Gracious, friendly people. That is where I would like to live. Also almost everyone I ran into speaks Anglais, so there would't be much of a language barrier, if any. I think you would fit right in. Wouldn't it be sweet to get out of the good ol' USA, "the greatest country in the world" for a time?

ROD RESPONDS: Van Helsing, you dog!

I would *expect* you to support anything closer to your brothers and comrades *in Transylvania!*

Do you not think I see through your *transparent RUSE?*

Of course you would encourage me to travel to Europe where your LIBERTINE FRIENDS AND BIG- T****D WOMEN* might try to have their way with me!

THINK AGAIN!

When I move to Amsterdam, I shall treat you with the respect you deserve. I will offer you a cask of Amontillado. And PERHAPS, I shall also invite to your FINAL game of chess!

BE AFRAID, VAN HELSING! Be very afraid!

Your Eternal Nemesis,
Baron von Braunsweiger

SUBJECT: Things You Love This Week

Now that's more like it!

Also, speaking of Bob Dylan (Desire and Blood on the Tracks are my favorites besides Blonde on Blonde), I always think when he sings Sara, oh Sara....he is wailing right from his lover's heart. I think that is the realest song that has nothing to do with "the music industry". Well, maybe I just need to think that.

From Tino d'A., Hudson Valley, NY, USA:

SUBJECT: The New Look at G21

it is pretty damn cool

From Trent M., Durham, NC, USA:

Hey from Duke University!

One of my pals turned me onto your website and I thought it was way cool! Maybe you should do something like a campus sticker campaign to let people know you are out there. What do ya' think? I think more young people would like to know there is a site like this that's both international and has jokes and different opinions than AOL. You rock!

Thanks for being there!
Trent

From Diamond D., Higganum , CT, USA:

Dear Mr. Gore,

I am a vapid internet user. I have been onlining ever since I heard that you invented this great thing in my computer that they call the internet. How and when will you be putting the entire Internet onto every computer and how much do you think this will cost the government? I do not understand why my phone goes funny sometimes, but it seems to be worth it.

My question is, will you be able to put more information about your daddy's oil company money into the internet for my computer only, because I want to learn how to be a rich politician like you. Also, I was hoping I could help work for you in retail to support your campaign to earn seed money. I want to work in this online store of yours, selling t-shirts. I think this is a great opportunity for us to become fast friends as I will be your bestest salesman ever.

thanks,
a vapid al gore supporter
