THE WORLD - From Bob Powers, Marietta, OH, USA:

SUBJECT: Letter to Raheem

Raheem,

Congratulations on the forthcoming daughter. May all go well and may she become all that you and Tanya ever desired. Children are wonderful and I speak from experience. Betty and I have six of our own and adopted another one. Now we also have seven grandchildren and four great-grands. They are all joys to behold.

I haven't written to you in a long time, but while I don't approve totally of your assessment of Bill Cosby's comments, I loved the way you wrote the article, which I believe the overwhelming majority of readers would find impossible not to read every word. Your writing skills haven't sagged at all since you cut back on production.

Write more!

Bob Powers,
the "Powerssound" Guy
Marietta, Ohio

RAHEEM RESPONDS:

Mr. Bob,

Thanks for your support! I know that article, like my Shelby Steele critique, is not everyone's cup of tea. But we can't all be crowd-pleasers around here, can we?

Glad you thought the writing was good!

Like our governor out here, the Terminator: "Ah'll be bak!"

Peace out!
Raheem

From Bob Powers, Marietta, OH, USA:

SUBJECT: Simply a GREAT column

Rod,

You have outdone yourself with the new column, the most un-putdownable I have seen in a long, long, l-o-n-g time, Old Friend.

I have full confidence that you will emerge a winner. You inspire me to carry on my fight for improving the state of my bank account.

Bob

From Wolf DeVoon, (No City Provided,) COSTA RICA:

SUBJECT: Wolf DeVoon sez...

Hey Rodya,

Ron Diener wrote "The chief architect [of the U.S. Constitution], Thomas Jefferson, remains to this day a puzzle and a conundrum - an architect of freedom and the owner of slaves, a believer in democracy and the fashioner of electoral tricks." Bzzzt. Wrong.

Jefferson was in Paris in 1787 and took no part in drafting the Constitution. On his return, he was baffled by the bicameral legislature and other provisions. It's also inappropriate to talk about a chief architect of the U.S. Constitution, because it was a compromise fashioned among 50+ delegates to the Philadelphia convention.

Best,
Wolf

ROD RESPONDS:

Wolf,

Absolutely right! Ron sends his apologies for the minor gaffe. Our fact-checker has been cashiered and replaced. G21 apologizes for the error. Hope to see you back in these pages soon!

Just happened to come across it while researching attitudes towards current culture. Had a feeling you and other readers of G21 may find it of interest.

Cheers!
