EVENT # 292: HIGH FASHION
|
Welcome back! Here you are at "the NPR (National Public Radio) of the Internet" again. The fact that you are with us shows how SMART and willing to be informed you are.
We like that! That's why we make it a point to bring you the best writers and reporters on the planet every week and news and commentary that the Mouthpiece Media tend to (strategically) omit. For now, get into our new look and where we plan to take you in 2002. MESSAGE to Women of Fun: Rod, our publisher, would love to spend some time with you on New Year's Eve in Manhattan. (Oops! We didn't say that!) For the Holy Days, we have some wonderful stuff planned for you. Next week, for example, our 3 December Special Edition will be themed "THE MAN ISSUE." Be here or be rectangular. MESSAGE To Those Committed to Death: You are a wave, but WE are the ocean... |

PREMIERE! Love - v. - In LoveD. A. BLYLER
In the coming months, Good Doctor English will field your English language questions, be they concerns about the existential nature of the lowly comma or the pros and cons of dating the new English lecturer at your university. Indeed, no questions are beyond the scope of the good doctor's knowledge and experience. As the doctor has no reader questions to field on this, his debut, he'll begin by tackling the thorny issue of:
This past week my students accosted me with a linguistic problem that was causing them trouble. I responded by using my usual tact when faced with problems. I avoided it... More

One way of doing that is buying our "stuff." Wear it, drink from it, click over it.

"Write Like God..."ROD AMISNEW ORLEANS, 26 November, 2001 - Every writer says he/she can do it, but it's a tall order to write the best you can --- let alone "Write like God..." as Max Adams advised me this past week. This advice was part of our (behind-the-scenes) long-running conversation about good and great writing and writng for Hollywood -- something I now intend to do. Oh-oh!
Now that I am jumping into Max's arena, as a collaborator with another woman writer who insists that I must lose Mr. Pessimism and become Mr. Optimism, the very least I am required to do is write like God... More
The Season of FamilyRADIO RAHEEMOAKLAND, CALI - NOVEMBER 25, 2001: Thanksgiving was the usual family scene at my Mom's house in Benicia. The relatives from Louisiana weren't up this year -- which was a relief for me and Tanya, after the wedding. They are letting us rest until Christmas. We are back in the season of family. After what happened on September 11th, it seems like lots of the people here in America are takin' their families more seriously. I like that. But I have always talked in these pages about takin' our families more seriously. So that's nothin' new.
I kindah missed havin' them wide-load Louisiana relatives of mine --- too loud, too wild, full of that parish juice --- makin' our lives a bit more chaotic. But it was good to not have the kids get hyper from their influence, too.. More
Ross Tompkins & PianoBOB POWERSAmerica lost one of its few jazz outlets on television when Johnny Carson decided to retire in 1992. The Tonight Show band, led by trumpeter "Doc" Severinson (who never claimed to be a jazz man), contained some of the best musicians in the business. To many fans of the late-night show, pianist Ross Tompkins deserved more solo time. .. More |
