MY GLASS HOUSE: I went through another of my Dark Nights of the Soul this past weekend. The black dog only left when I was talking with my Portuguese brother, Dove. Dove said that he could tell the black dog (of Depression) was in my front yard. I didn't want to tell him it was already in my living room eating my ass. Half way through my recitation of what the past two weeks have been like, he interrupted me: "You don't get it? Hello! You're exhausted. You just told me how you did all the things everyone needed you to do, and that's amazing. But your body and soul know how stupid you are. They said, hey! We're beat. We quit!".... Our Publisher continues to keep Pandora's Box open. "Dark Night of the Soul"
BLACK INK: On July 23, 1899, Ruth C. Ellis was born. This year she will mark her 101st birthday at the senior citizen center she lives at in Detroit. Many young men and women who are not related to Ruth will join her on that day to celebrate. For them, Ruth C. Ellis represents more than a long lived life. At 101 years, Ruth is Americas oldest Black lesbian....JEFF WINBUSH "A Closed Closet of Black History"
PLANETARY MADNESS: Madame Venus is bedecked in rubber and aluminum fashion as she thrusts her pelvis through the turnstile between Capricorn and Aquarius. The influence of the WaterBearer inspires the Madame to periodically flip her hair, aloofly, aloofly. Platonic love is just as potent as lusty, slow-mo moments with paramours. Madame Venus is friendly yet flighty while wearing eau-de-Aquarius...... JENNIFER BLUE, "Current Forecast"
DAY ONE: The fallen trees of Versailles have won their first victory, symbolically enough, in Montreal; the old world, scarred by the misconduct of the new, has drawn a line on the soil of a former colony and has not budged. That is the only conclusion to be drawn from the final agreement on genetically modified food.....KEVIN CAREY, "MONTREAL"
|RDR: Sunday's RDR:
You'd think that the meaning of laissez faire should be well understood, but apparently it isn't. A nice young woman named Tena sent me a textbook definition that she liked. It has a passel of problems. Before we look at a false definition, here's the correct one. It's a French phrase that means "Let us alone!" A minister of state once asked what France could do to encourage and support commerce, and a frustrated manufacturer replied, "Laissez-nous faire!..." WOLF DEVOON - "What is Laissez Faire?"
RDR 02.14.00: Cyber noir from Rod Amis - "Blind Colors"
am i an asshole for smirking just a bit when i found out that someone(s) had detonated time bombs that effected so many fat cats? i'm wholeheartedly anti-regulation. ...
